Lurking in the Library

When CKUA moved last winter the library was a little short on space; as result of that we ended up storing 741 boxes of reel to reel tape and uncatalogued donated items that had accrued over time. We had all those boxes delivered in the last week of August. Thanks to help help of many dedicated volunteers who, I might add, were considerably more cool calm and collected than I was staring down 741 boxes full of Library materials, we are currently almost done sorting and shelving that business.

This last year has been narrated like a bad movie soundtrack in my head "...just when you thought it was done, moving dragged you back in..".  We are really almost done this time; there's going to be some more shuffling but nothing on the scale of the move that lasted almost two years.  I really can't repeat it often enough - without the help of you guys, this would not have happened. You guys and Susan Campbell who organized and fed us, and kept me semi-calm throughout this whole year.

On a more positive note, we've found some amazing treasure in the uncatalogued stuff we've been unpacking.

Liberace – “The Way We Were” flexi disc  I'm not sure I need to describe this further. It is magical. (Note to self, I need many large rings)

Good Housekeeping’s “Plan For Reducing Off-The-Record”, with narration by Julie Conway and music by The Bob Prince Quartet, LP.
I can’t describe the levels of joy I experienced when I found that the verso of the LP has a calorie guide. Inside are instructions and diagrams as well as a height and weight chart.
These are two of my favorite finds so far. Just imagine all the other amazing donated items waiting to be sorted through! This is just scraping the surface.
