It’s National Volunteer Week!

From April 6-12, 2014, it is National Volunteer Week! It is a time to recognize, celebrate and thank Canada’s 13.3 million volunteers. - See more at: http://volunteer.ca/nvw2014#sthash.IR9oRnSc.dpuf

CKUA would like to take this time to give an extra shout out to our amazing, loyal and wonderful CKUA volunteers.  From the bottoms of our hearts: Thank-you!

The CKUA volunteers are the cornerstone of our fundraisers, board members, our ambassadors at events/festivals and provide administrative support to many areas including FDO, volunteer management, Marketing etc. Without your efforts in the numerous roles you play, CKUA would not exist as it is today and for that we are forever grateful.

Volunteer Fun Facts:

-In 2010-11, 72.3% of adult Albertans indicated that they did at least one type of
volunteer work.

-volunteering for an arts or cultural organization, a performance or multi-cultural event, an art exhibition or a heritage society (17.6%)

-According to the 2003 National Survey of non-profit and Voluntary Organization
(NSNVO), there are approximately 19,000 non-profit and voluntary organizations in
Alberta, which account for about 12% of the 161,000 non-profit and voluntary
organizations in Canada.

-Albertans have a rich history of volunteering and community involvement. With over 1.4 million dedicating their time across Alberta’s communities every year, volunteers are leading positive change on all fronts: community health care, sports and recreation, heritage, radio and arts, environmental protection & advocacy, disaster relief and international development – the list is endless. The work of volunteers is essential to maintaining resilient communities at home and around the world.
